Land(ing)
@Festival DanseRom 2025
Through dance, movement, and sound, we explore the contrast between land and water, and what it means to “land”—both physically and metaphorically. What happens when we drop objects on land or into water? How do our surroundings shape our understanding of belonging and place?
Toward the end of the performance, we take a leap—both literally and figuratively—into the unknown, inviting reflection on what it means to find solid ground in a world that is constantly shifting.
Land(ing) is a poetic and playful exploration of place, belonging, and the transition between the stable and the fluid.
Review from scenekunst.no:
“Another contribution that, like Horisont, succeeded in using public outdoor space in a productive and engaging way was the choreography Land(ing) by RYA dansekunst and ImproLab Bergen. The five performers suddenly appeared along the waterfront by the large office building of BI Norwegian Business School. As the title Land(ing) suggests, the ensemble explores the act of letting bodies fall to the ground again and again. When the performers also drop stones onto the ground, a strange and beautiful connection emerges between the bodies and the stones: it’s as if both human and object float in the same way through the air before hitting the surface. Finally, the five threw themselves over the edge of the waterfront and into the water”.
